Suspect apprehended for possession of a dangerous weapon in La Lucia

A member of the public who witnessed the robbery arrived on scene and positively identified the suspect.

A MAN was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon in La Lucia on Sunday.

Marshall Security armed response officers responded to alerts of an armed robbery on Armstrong Road, where it was reported that the man, who was armed with a knife, robbed two females of their guesthouse keys.

“He was disturbed by a member of the public, who notified our teams that the suspect had fled the scene in an unknown direction,” said Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell.

The suspect was apprehended a few minutes later on Davallen Avenue and was immediately arrested.

“Upon searching the suspect, a knife was found in his possession. The member of the public who witnessed the robbery arrived on scene and positively identified the suspect,” said Powell.

Durban North SAPS arrived, however, a case could not be opened as the victims could not be located.

“The suspect is a known homeless person in the La Lucia area,” added Powell.
