Hijacked vehicles recovered in Glenashley – suspect arrested

The owner of a B&B in Glenashley is suspected of hijacking two vehicles.

TWO hijacked vehicles were found at a bed and breakfast in Glenashley on Monday evening.

The owner of the establishment was arrested after Marshall Security’s special operations team, together with Tracker and the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit, received information on the whereabouts of the hijacked vehicle.

“The white Mercedes Benz C200 AMG was hijacked from the Wentworth area in May. The keys for the vehicle were found in the property owner’s possession, but the owner could not provide police officers with a reasonable explanation as to how they came to possess the keys,” said Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell.

Another hijacked vehicle was found on the property – a white BMW SUV that had been hijacked last September in the Mayville area.

“The B&B owner was also in possession of the keys for this vehicle and could again not give a reasonable explanation as to how he had obtained them,” said Powell.

The suspect and both vehicles were taken to Durban North SAPS for further processing.

“The suspect will be charged on two counts of being in possession of suspected stolen property,” added Powell.
