Security app activation to put Durban North community safety first

With over 300 000 users already, and ranked as South Africa's top security service provider on Hello Peter, the app integrates emergency services including medical, fire, and security; all at the tap of a button, without using mobile data. The community can attend the launch at Northwood Crusaders this weekend.

A MAJOR community call to action has been issued ahead of the Community Connect and Protect event which is an expo-style safety showcase launching the HelpMe app, a groundbreaking, data-free technology innovation designed to revolutionise personal and community security.

The event will take place at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club on August 2 (10:00–16:00) and 3 (10:00–14:00), and residents are urged to attend and see firsthand how this innovative platform plans to “smash crime in 4051”.

Jess Watts, the visionary behind HelpMe, says this is more than just an app; it’s the beginning of a safety revolution built on community partnerships and cutting-edge tech.

“We’re inviting the whole community to come and see how we’re building a safer Durban North, together. This event is about uniting families, neighbours, and service providers to take back control of our streets,” said Watts.

Launched recently at Java Café in Durban North, HelpMe is described as the world’s first data-free safety app.

Security heavyweights Marshall Security and Fidelity ADT have joined as official response partners. Fourteen vehicles are now linked directly to the app, promising response times in under four minutes.

The Community Connect and Protect weekend will comprise:

* Live helicopter fly-ins
* Interactive emergency vehicle displays
* 14 video booths demonstrating HelpMe in action
* Food trucks and refreshments
* East Coast Radio live broadcast (4-hour show)
* DJs, family-friendly entertainment, and competitions

Entry is free, and all are welcome.
