DURBANITES, movie-goers specifically, will be pleased to know that Nu Metro is opening at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping on Friday, October 3, and just in time for several acclaimed titles to hit the screens.

This comes four months after Ster Kinekor announced its closure at the shopping centre.

“The reopening of the cinema marks an exciting milestone for Gateway, reinforcing the centre’s position as a premier retail and lifestyle destination. Entertainment has always been an integral part of Gateway’s appeal, and this next-generation cinema complex will further enrich the mix of experiences available to our shoppers, adding significant value to the overall offering,” said Feysel Potgieter, general manager of Gateway Theatre of Shopping.

Titles such as Wicked: For Good, Avatar: Fire and Ash, The Batman – Part II, Tron: Ares, and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale are some of the movies that can be enjoyed on the latest cinema technology in the upcoming months.

The cinema has exclusive large-format Xtreme cinemas boasting state-of-the-art 3D Atmos immersive audio and crystal-clear 4K ultra-HD laser projection; ultra-premium VIP luxury cinemas with VIP lounges, and a multi-sensory 4DX; and a fully immersive 270-degree ScreenX theatre.

There’s also something for the little ones – a child-friendly auditorium with large-format screens.
