Durban North community gears up for bigger, better children’s party

Last year’s Durban North Kids Community Party event brought smiles to the faces of more than 1000 children, 200 babies and their mothers.

FOLLOWING the resounding success of last year’s inaugural Durban North Community Kids Fun Day, preparations are now underway for an even bigger celebration of joy, unity, and hope on November 29.

“This event is proof that when a community comes together with love and purpose, magic happens,” said Sam Reddy, co-founder of the Durban North Community Kids Fun Day.

“Last year, we saw firsthand how compassion can transform lives; not just for the children, but for everyone who was part of it. This year, we want to make that magic even stronger. This is more than just a fun day – it’s a true testament to unity. Together, we can bring hope, laughter, and inspiration to children who need it most.”

The 2025 Kids Fun Day will once again take place at the TREE campus, a safe and welcoming space just steps away from the Briardene informal settlement.

Organisers hope to reach 1 200 children and 200 mothers, uniting residents, schools, businesses, and faith-based organisations from across Durban North in a shared mission to spread joy and hope.

“We’re calling on the whole community to get involved whether it’s through toy donations, volunteering, or simply showing up with a smile; every act of kindness helps create an unforgettable day for these children,” said said Johann van den Berg, co-founder of the initiative.
