Durban North matrics celebrate strong 2025 results

Celebrations echoed at Durban North College and Northlands Girls' High School, as the class of 2025 received their matric results.

MATRICS across Durban North were filled with pride and celebration as they received their final National Senior Certificate results today, with local schools reporting strong overall performances and standout individual achievements.

Durban North College saw 62 learners write the 2025 examinations, achieving an 82.26% bachelor’s pass rate. A further 11.29% of learners obtained diploma passes, while 1.61% achieved higher certificate passes.

The school’s top achiever, and 2025 Dux, is Ayush Ramphal, who attained an aggregate of 86%, earning six A symbols and one B.

Second place went to Aarya Lognath, who achieved an 84% aggregate with eight distinctions, while Sunisha Ramduth secured third position with an 81% aggregate, comprising three A symbols, three B symbols and one C.

At Northlands Girls’ High, the Class of 2025 achieved an outstanding 99.4% overall pass rate, with 87.3% of learners qualifying for bachelor’s degree study. Diploma passes stood at 11.5%, while 0.6% achieved higher certificate passes.

Principal Theven Reddy praised the matric cohort for their commitment and perseverance.

“The Class of 2025 worked exceptionally well and did us proud. Their resilience, determination and hard work, together with the support of parents and educators, made these results possible,” he said.

“We wish them well for the future and encourage them to carry the Northlands name with pride wherever they go.”

The school’s dux, Tiara Fakira, achieved an exceptional seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, life orientation, accounting, life sciences and physical sciences.
