Chelsea Preparatory announces leaders

Chelsea chooses new leadership for its executive council.

CHELSEA Preparatory School recently announced its 2026 Executive Council, highlighting the continued success of its Service Team programme in developing leadership and community-minded learners.

Introduced more than a decade ago, the programme replaced the traditional prefect system with a more inclusive approach. Every Grade Seven learner participates in a service team, with focus areas including Environment, Technology, Recycling, Events, Sports, Art, School Pride, and EarlyAct. This structure ensures that all pupils play an active role in contributing to school life.

Each team elects two leaders who meet regularly to plan initiatives, keep records, and build accountability. These leaders also attend a leadership camp, where they nominate and vote for members of the Executive Council.

The 2026 Executive Council members are chairperson Tatum Stanton, vice chairperson Diego Manias and secretary Samuel Naude.

The Executive Council represents all Grade Seven Service Teams and plays a key role in guiding projects and encouraging new ideas throughout the year.

Principal Grant Maartens shared that the programme helps learners adopt a mindset of service, encouraging them to think not only about what they can gain from their school, but also about how they can give back to their community.
