Footage of the high-speed chase was captured by a security’s vehicles dashcam.
ONE person has been arrested by Verulam SAPS after a high-speed chase ended with a crash on the N2 near the uMdloti off-ramp on Tuesday morning (November 5).
The vehicle, a Hyundai Venue, had been reported stolen earlier on Tuesday during a housebreaking in the Chatsworth area.

“Matrix Tracking informed our Special Operations Team, Phoenix SAPS Trio Crimes, and KZN RTI that the stolen vehicle was spotted on the N2 northbound, passing Umgeni Road. Teams immediately positioned themselves along the route, ready to intercept the vehicle.
“Officers identified the stolen vehicle, now bearing false registration plates, on the N2 near Queen Nandi Drive. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the suspect sped away, initiating a high-speed chase along the N2 towards Gateway. The pursuit concluded on the Umdloti off-ramp when the suspect lost control and collided with the barriers. Officers immediately apprehended the suspect, who was alone in the vehicle, and handed him over to Verulam SAPS,” he said.
While the vehicle was damaged, it was successfully recovered and police are investigating further.
Video footage captured by a dash-cam video shows the driver swerving between vehicles as he attempted to evade arrest.
It is unclear what charges the suspect is facing at the time of going to print.
