Copper thief nabbed in Umgeni Park

A Marshall Security Armed Response Officer assisted a non-Marshall client who called for assistance during a copper-cable theft.

A COPPER thief was arrested by Marshall Security on Chicks Drive in the Umgeni Park area on December 7.

Marshall Security Spokesperson Tyron Powell said their Armed Response Officers responded to an alarm activation on the afternoon of Thursday, December 7.

“Our Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes. While conducting a property check, the homeowner from a neighbouring property, who is a non-Marshall client, called our Armed Response Officer for assistance after noticing a suspect stealing copper cables from his own property.

“Our Armed Response Officer, without hesitation, immediately jumped into action to assist and managed to apprehend the suspect on Briar Lane, who had the stolen copper cables in his possession,” said Powell.

Powell said the suspect, together with the stolen items, was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS, where he would be charged with theft.
