Water meter thief nabbed in Glenashley

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday.

A SUSPECT accused of stealing a water meter was arrested on Saturday in Glenashley.

The incident occurred just before 04:00 on Ypsilanti Avenue.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, response officers were patrolling the area when they spotted the suspect.

“As soon as the suspect spotted our officer, he attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. The homeowner was informed and desired to press charges against the suspect. The Durban North SAPS were informed and arrived on scene a short while later and transported the suspect to Durban North SAPS where the suspect will be charged for theft,” he said.

Powell reminded homeowners that the onus is on them to report any stolen water meters from their property to the SAPS.
