Clean-up initiative restores Greenwood Park Police Station holding cells

The Greenwood Park SAPS management thanked Sub-Forum 5 for the clean-up initiative and commitment in undertaking these tasks.

THE Greenwood Park SAPS Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sub-Forum 5 hosted a significant cleaning initiative at the police station’s holding cells on Saturday, October 12, all in the name of restoring hygiene and functionality.

Led by CPF chairperson Charles Matthews, the team got to work with a deep clean of the cells.

This entailed a high-pressure clean, wash and scrub as well as the sanitising of all holding cells. Simultaneously, much-needed repairs to the station’s restroom facilities were also addressed.

As part of the initiative, Sub-Forum 5 members collaborated to fix all broken toilets, install new fixtures where necessary and replace components that had fallen into disrepair over time.

The entire operation was geared towards improving the overall cleanliness and operational efficiency of the police station, ensuring that it meets the required standards of hygiene and functionality.

“Maintaining clean and functional facilities within our police stations is crucial, not only for the dignity of those detained but also for the overall integrity and morale of the station staff. We are proud to contribute to the upkeep of our community’s police station and hope this effort sets a precedent for continued involvement in the well-being of all our public facilities,” said Matthews.

“The CPF aims to build stronger ties between the community and law enforcement, focusing on the safety, cleanliness and efficiency of public facilities,” he added.
