Cyclist dies after medical emergency in Durban North

Bystanders were trying to resuscitate the man when paramedics arrived.

A CYCLIST, believed to be in his 70s, died after a medical emergency on Adelaide Tambo Drive on Saturday morning (November 9).

The tragedy was initially reported as an accident to ALS Paramedics who responded just after 07:00.

Spokesperson for ALS, Garrith Jamieson said the incident occurred near Dorrington Crescent in Durban North.

“On arrival Paramedics found bystanders attempting to resuscitate a cyclist to try and save the man. The man believed to be in his seventies unfortunately passed away despite best efforts by Paramedics and was declared deceased on the scene.

“It was later established that there was no vehicle involved and is thought to be a medical condition however all necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating,” he said.
