Virginia market to bring festive fun

The market is a fundraiser for St Margaret’s Church.

ST MARGARET’S Church will be hosting a Christmas night market on Friday, November 29, at its premises on 11 Delaware Avenue.

The market, which runs from 17:00 to 21:00, is a fundraiser for the church.

Debbie Russell, the co-ordinator of the market, said that the event is a combination of a fête and a market.

“It’s an annual event and one really for the community. We felt this would be a great way to support small businesses and entrepreneurs and give them an outlet. We would like to give the granny who knits at home or young entrepreneurs a chance to try and sell their goods. The evening is also a fun, festive time for the community to come and browse and support these stalls.

“The pandemic has really robbed us of the idea of community – a lot has been lost in recent times. To have the community come and spend time getting together again for a good cause is one I’m really looking forward to. This is also a great way to do some Christmas shopping early,” she said.

Russell added that there will also be a number of food stalls on offer.

Two residents and small business owners looking forward to the event are Nicky Stark and Tammy Selby.

“As a small business, I’m grateful for the opportunity to gain some exposure in my hometown and community. I also encourage residents to come out and support the event and the church,” Stark said.

Her comments were echoed by Selby.

“I think Nicky mentioned it – it’s a great way to expose our brands and small businesses to the community and to have their support. We hope to get the word out and to see as many people support us as possible. With Christmas right around the corner, it is also a great way to get some festive shopping done,” she said.
