All-round SEC hand DSG their second defeat
The visiting team dominated with both the bat and the ball throughout the match at Kingsmead to claim their first win of the competition.
DURBAN’S Super Giants were handed their second defeat of the Betway SA20 when they fell to a 58 run defeat to a strong all-round performance from the Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Friday night.
The visiting team dominated with both the bat and the ball throughout the match at Kingsmead to claim their first win of the competition and with that a bonus point victory.
SEC won the toss and chose to bat first and thanks to contributions from Zak Crawley (38), Tom Abell (57) and Marco Jansen (36) the visitors posted 165/5 in their 20 overs.
Noor Ahmad was again the standout bowler for the home side taking four wickets for only 25 runs.
While it was a decent effort from the home side’s bowling attack, they never looked close to keeping up with the required run rate.
What compounded the defeat was the home side losing their last five wickets for just seven runs.
Bryce Parsons top scored with 23 and was one of four batsman to get into double figures.
Scoreboard summary
Sunrisers Eastern Cape 165/5 (20 overs)
Durban’s Super Giants 107 (18 overs)
SEC won by 58 runs
