Dolphins recognise top performers at awards evening
Several players were recognised including Durban North resident Nicole de Klerk.
AFTER a successful season for both the men’s and ladies teams, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins recently held its awards ceremony at Mount Edgecombe Country Club.
Prenelan Subrayen and Alexandra Candler were the standout winners across the men’s and women’s categories while Durban North resident Nicole de Klerk was awarded the Players’ Player of the Year award as well as the Pro20 Batter of the Year in the ladies category.
Subrayen took home both the Men’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards as well as the 4-Day Domestic Series Player of the Year.
Subrayen finished the 4-Day Series as the second highest wicket-taker in both the 4-Day Series and the One Day Cup which showed his consistency throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Candler, who dominated the previous season’s awards as well, took home the Player of the Year, Hollywoodbets Pro50 Batter of the Year and the Hollywoodbets Pro50 Player of the Year awards.
These awards back up her Players’ Player of the Year, Player of the Year and both T20 Challenge and 50 Over batter of the year awards last season.
Candler was again a standout with the bat, she finished as the leading run scorer in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 competition with 387 runs in 10 innings.
She was the fifth highest run scorer in the Hollywoodbets Pro20 competition with 205 runs.
The Dolphins Ladies Hollywoodbets Pro50 captain Nondumiso Shangase was also awarded three awards, two Hollywoodbets Pro50 awards, Bowler and Fielder of the Year as well as the Hollywoodbets Pro20 Player of the Year award.
On the local front, De Klerk shone with the bat for the Dolphins and was announced as the Pro20 Batter of the Year and then followed that award up with the prestigious Players’ Player of the Year award.
She was the joint-highest run scorer in the Pro20 with 219 runs from eight innings which included two fifties and an average of 31.
