Six arrested after links to Durban North break-ins
The suspects were arrested on the M4 near the Virginia off-ramp.
A GROUP of suspects allegedly linked to house break-in cases in La Lucia, Glenashley and Greenwood Park were arrested on Friday (July 11) evening in a joint operation involving law enforcement and private security.
Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit, Durban North Crime Prevention, and Crime Intelligence as well as Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT), made the arrests after months of intelligence gathering.
Initial investigations have linked the suspects to 10 house break-in cases, including incidents outside Durban North in Salt Rock, Ballito and Umbilo.

“The suspects’ modus operandi involved accessing properties by climbing through roofs, dismantling alarm systems, and ransacking homes while residents are away. Targeted items included jewellery, laptops, safes, firearms, TVs and other high-value items,” explained Marshall Security’s spokesperson Tyron Powell.
The suspects, who were travelling in two vehicles, were stopped on the M4 Ruth First Highway near the Virginia turn-off.
“A total of six suspects were successfully apprehended and taken to Durban North Police Station. A search of the vehicles and suspects led to the discovery of house break-in tools and gloves, and multiple backpacks containing a large quantity of jewellery and watches the suspects could not account for,” Powell said.
