CPF welcomes raid on properties in Durban North and uMhlanga

During the raids police found drug paraphernalia, condoms and speed point machines.

SEVERAL properties in Durban North and uMhlanga were raided on Friday based on intelligence-driven operations by law enforcement agencies.

The Durban North CPF welcomed the operations which saw the arrest and detainment of four undocumented women.

It is alleged that among the properties raided was a suspected brothel, however queries to Metro Police and the SAPS have gone unanswered.

Darryl Oliver, the PRO for the CPF, said the operation also involved members of Durban Metro Police Trio Crimes, Immigrations (Border Management Authority) and the SAPS Counter Narcotics Unit KZN.

“Properties operating under the guise of B&Bs and massage parlours that have been long complained about were raided by law enforcement. Drug paraphernalia, condoms, speed point machines and record books were found and seized.

“Five cases have been opened, with four females arrested under the Immigration Act for varying offences ranging from expired passports, unstamped passports, no visas,” he said.

Oliver encouraged residents to report such establishments to either the Durban North CPF, SAPS, Metro Police or your Ward councillor.

“Report these establishments so that these kinds of raids can continue, and push these establishments out of our area,” he said.

  • At the time of going to print, no comment was given by SAPS or Metro Police.
