Bringing colour and care to Inanda Primary
The collaboration between The Domino Foundation's Life Skills programme, and Northwood School has again provided an opportunity for learners to support their neighbours in a tangible way. The high school learners brightened up Inanda Primary in an artistic way.
NORTHWOOD School’s budding young artists swapped their classrooms for paintbrushes during the school’s annual Grade Nine Community Connect Week, leaving a vibrant mark on Inanda Primary School.

Under the guidance of design teacher Nomusa Godoma, a group of 12 learners recently transformed a classroom by preparing and painting murals that now brighten the learning environment for Inanda pupils.
“A sense of community is at the heart of who we are. The outreach programme gives our learners the chance to contribute meaningfully, and the mural project was just one of many initiatives our Grade Nines completed during the week,” said Godoma.
For many of the learners, the project was as rewarding as it was creative.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the whole process from cleaning and preparing the walls to sketching and painting, it was so much fun,” said Joshua du Preez.
Fellow muralist Mark Quinton added that it felt good to know that what they had created will bring joy to the children who learn there.
The project was co-ordinated in partnership with Domino, whose staff expressed their appreciation.
“Northwood’s efforts to create a stimulating learning space for Inanda learners were deeply valued. We encourage other schools who want to make a difference to reach out and explore opportunities across our seven community programmes,” said Thembeka Gumede from The Domino Foundation.
