One killed in accident on M4

The fatal accident occurred between Sibaya and uMdloti.

A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed in a crash on the M4, between Sibaya and uMdloti, on Friday afternoon (September 12).

Spokesperson for KZNVIP Paramedics, Gareth Naidoo, explained the rider was declared deceased on the scene by paramedics.

“Our emergency response teams established that a motorcyclist had lost control and crashed into the rear of a truck. Despite swift medical intervention, the motorcyclist showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on scene,” he said.

Naidoo added the collision caused severe traffic delays in the area.

In a separate incident in the highway area six people, including three children,  were injured in an accident on the M13.

In that incident ALS Paramedics responded to the accident scene just after 12:30,  confirmed spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

“Paramedics found chaos on the scene as they found that a truck with a trailer had lost control and ploughed into two light motor vehicles. A total of six patients had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene by ALS Paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.

The truck driver escaped injury.
