Man stabbed in robbery on M41 near uMhlanga

The victim is said to be in a critical condition following the robbery and stabbing.

A MAN was stabbed after being robbed by two suspects on the M41 near uMhlanga on Monday evening (September 15).

The victim, believed to be a call centre employee, was walking to find transport when he was approached by two suspects armed with knives.

“The suspects robbed him of an undisclosed amount of valuables and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene. Following the ordeal, the victim managed to run back towards his workplace in Montgomery Drive, Mount Edgecombe, where he collapsed and was later found unconscious by a security guard,” Gareth Naidoo, spokesperson for KZN VIP Protection Services, said.

The victim was stabilised by paramedics but according to Naidoo he is in a critical condition.

“KZN VIP urges community members to remain vigilant when travelling on foot and to report any suspicious persons or activities immediately,” he said.

The incident comes after an attempted robbery in Mount Edgecombe in August, also near the M41, where a suspect used a blank gun.

In that instance the victim refused to hand over his valuables and the suspect was disturbed and fled the scene.
