Fans line up to meet the Springboks at Gateway

Durban was a hive of activity last week as both the Proteas and Springboks were in Durban to celebrate with the fans.

JUST days before the Springboks thumped Argentina 67-30 in The Rugby Championship in Durban, fans got a chance to rub shoulders with some of the South African squad.

Members of the Bok squad including Makazole Mapimpi, Rudolph Gerhardus (RG) Snyman, Bongi Mbonambi and Jesse Kriel were at the autograph signing session at the Nike store at Gateway Theatre of Shopping on Thursday last week.

Fans from all over Durban arrived to get their autographs and the Boks also met with some youngsters from the Reach For A Dream Foundation.

At the game at Hollywoodbets Kings Park on Saturday, a new record for points scored by a Springbok was set by fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who scored 37 points.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu scored three tries, kicked eight conversions and two penalty goals to surpass a previous record held by Percy Montgomery since 2007 where he scored 35 points against Namibia.

In all the Springboks ran in nine tries with Pieter-Steph du Toit, Malcolm Marx, wing Cheslin Kolbe, Morne van den Berg and Manie Libbok all crossing the line.
