Thief caught red-handed in Durban North

A thief was arrested in Durban North after CCTV operators and Marshall Security tracked him in real time and recovered stolen tools.

A THIEF was arrested on Sunday morning (November 16) after he was caught allegedly with several stolen items.

The thief was first spotted at a property on Lonsdale Drive in Durban North at about 07:40.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell, the intruder was spotted dressed in black clothing.

“Behind the scenes, our CCTV control room operators activated the Community Project Cameras and quickly spotted a suspect matching the description walking along a nearby road. Working in real time, camera operators continuously relayed live updates to responding officers, enabling teams to maintain visual contact throughout the pursuit. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was apprehended on Lothian Road,” he said.

“The suspect was found in possession of a spade, hedge clippers, and a grass slasher, tools later confirmed as stolen from the homeowner’s unlocked storeroom. The client positively identified both the suspect and the stolen items. Greenwood Park SAPS arrived shortly thereafter and took the suspect into custody for further investigation and legal processing,” he said.
