A MARSHALL Security officer has been praised for his quick thinking after he helped pull out a young boy who fell into a pool at a holiday complex in uMhlanga on Friday afternoon (November 21).

Ntokozo ‘Happy’ Sambo was patrolling the uMhlanga Promenade when he helped in the non-fatal drowning incident at a complex on Lagoon Drive. 

He was alerted to the incident by frantic calls for help.

“Without hesitation, our officer jumped into the pool and pulled the unresponsive child to safety before initiating CPR while awaiting further medical support,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

The six-year-old boy from Gauteng was  on holiday with his family at the time of the incident.

“Another security officer summoned nearby lifeguards, who assisted in resuscitating the child. Netcare 911 paramedics were contacted and arrived on scene within minutes, taking over medical treatment. After providing advanced life support, the child was stabilised and transported to hospital for further care,” he said.

The youngster is expected to make a full recovery.
