Date set for next SAPS community imbizo in uMhlanga
The imbizo is a way for residents and various roleplayers to voice their concerns or address service delivery issues to the SAPS.
THE Durban North police station has invited members of the community to attend the next SAPS imbizo at St Michael’s Church in uMhlanga on Thursday, November 27 (17:00 for 17:15).
Senior members of the station, including the station commander and the Visible Policing Commander, Metro Police and the Durban North CPF, will be in attendance.
Last month, the station held an imbizo at Virginia Airport where eight residents showed up. Senior management discussed various crime trends on the rise, reckless driving in uMhlanga and various scams targeting residents.

Public relations officer for the Durban North CPF Darryl Oliver encouraged residents to attend.
“This imbizo gives residents an opportunity to engage directly with the members of the station, get feedback on what is being done in the area in terms of issues relating to the law, and pose questions or concerns. We encourage residents to attend the imbizo,” he said.
Spokesperson for the Durban North SAPS, Sergeant Nonhlanhla Shozi, echoed those sentiments.
“We hope to use these engagements as a way of sensitising residents to the different crime trends in the area. These engagements also give us an opportunity to speak to residents and to in turn, hear their concerns,” she said.
The station previously hosted six community engagements but poor attendance led to meeting times being shifted to the evening.
The meeting will be held at the church on Durban View Road.
