UMHLANGA resident and radio DJ, Keri Miller, has entered this year’s aQuellé Midmar Mile in a bid to complete her third race.
Miller, the co-founder of digital radio station PlayZN, will compete in the family race at the world’s largest open water swimming event.
The 43-year-old is also an ambassador for Mr Price Sport and will be supporting the event over the weekend.
This year Miller aims to complete the swim with her sister Ceejae, brother-in-law Mike, niece Charli-Rose and two nephews, Matt and Brad Shea.

“My sister’s children are doing it and I wanted to be the cool aunt. As a family, last year was our first time swimming Midmar together and we absolutely loved it,” she said. “For the 2025 race, my sister had already entered her whole family and I thought, if [my niece] Charli-Rose can swim it at six, then nothing is stopping me. It felt like one of the best family days we could ever have together. Such a cool memory to make.”
A member of the Umhlanga Rocks Surf Lifesaving Club (Rox), she said she will tackle a few longer swims in the lead-up to the iconic event.
“I wouldn’t say I’m an excellent swimmer and the great thing with the Midmar Mile is you don’t have to be. You do have to have some level of fitness but for me it’s all about a fun family day. For those looking to better their times the Midmar Mile website has a training schedule they could potentially look at,” she said.
