Police in Durban North are investigating a case of vehicle theft after a maroon Toyota Tazz stolen in the Stanger area was recovered near Gateway on the N2 on Friday evening.
According to reports, an alert was circulated at approximately 18.14 by HAWKS Security indicating that the vehicle had been stolen around 18:00 and was believed to be travelling southbound on the N2.

Members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations team, together with Durban North SAPS Crime Prevention, monitored the route and positioned themselves near the Gateway area.
At approximately 18:30, the vehicle was spotted travelling at high speed just before Gateway. A pursuit ensued, and after a brief chase, the vehicle was intercepted and brought to a stop. Two suspects were apprehended at the scene.
Tyron Powell, spokesperson for Marshall Security, said the swift response played a crucial role in the recovery.
“The rapid sharing of information between security networks and SAPS allowed for immediate action. Because of that co-ordination, the vehicle was intercepted before it could be taken further,” said Powell
He added that collaboration between private security and police remains essential in combating vehicle theft.
“Working together ensures a faster response and increases the chances of recovery. We remain committed to supporting SAPS and protecting our communities,” he said.
Investigations are ongoing.
