R216 million to fix KZN potholes
According to the KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, R216 million has been allocated to address province’s potholes.
DURING his State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli revealed that a total of R216 million has been allocated to address province’s potholes, starting with a backlog of 3.12 million square metres across the provincial road network.
“In achieving this, we have secured 55 trucks with over 100 roadworker aids and supervisors appointed with the main objective of eradicating potholes across the provincial road network.

“This effort is to reduce the impact of potholes on vehicle leading to punctures and wheel damage, traffic congestion and delays. This would assist in reducing the risk of accidents, including fatalities, improve mobility, and economic activity in the province,” he said.
Just days later the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature today convened for the official debate on the 2026 State of the Province Address (SOPA).
The discussions focused on key provincial priorities, including inclusive economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development, and the strengthening of service delivery mechanisms.
