School supports ‘flipping’ amazing fundraiser

Flip Flop Day symbolises walking alongside those affected by childhood cancer, reinforcing the message that no child should ever have to face their journey alone.

CRAWFORD International La Lucia united in a powerful show of compassion on February 20 as learners and staff across the Pre-Primary, Preparatory, and College phases took part in Flip Flop Day, a national initiative supporting children and teenagers diagnosed with childhood cancer.

Guided by the inspiring slogan, “Every Pair has a Purpose,” the school community swapped their usual footwear for flip flops and purchased stickers to show their support for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.

The colourful display of flip flops across campus was more than a fun fashion statement — it was a meaningful act of solidarity.

Through the collective efforts of learners, parents, and staff, the campus proudly raised an impressive R13 000 for the cause.

The funds will help provide emotional, practical, and financial support to children undergoing cancer treatment, as well as their families during an incredibly challenging time.
