Ink up to raise funds for Highway Hospice

The Durban North tattoo studio is giving back 90% of funds raised on any line work tattoo booked this month to the Highway Hospice.

A DURBAN North tattoo studio is dedicating the month of June to raising funds for Highway Hospice.

For the last few years, Fine Line Tattoo & Piercing, has nominated a charity of its choosing and raised funds by offering tattoos with proceeds going towards charity.

This year is no different as the home is donating 90% of any line work tattoo booked to the Highway Hospice.

Highway Hospice is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that provides palliative care for life-limiting illnesses as well as emotional, and social support to terminally ill patients.

Owners of the tattoo studio, Etienne Louw and Sheldon Shaw, explained that clients may choose almost any design of their choice, provided the tattoos are simple linework or black-and-grey designs, with minimal shading for the larger 8x8cm option.

“We have always believed that business should be about more than just profit,” Louw said. “Every year our clients rally behind these charity drives in the most incredible way. This year we wanted to support an organisation that touches so many lives in our community through compassion, care, and dignity.”

Lisette Abell, head of fundraising at the hospice, said it was an honour to have been chosen by the Durban North studio.

“We had the chance to visit Etienne and Sheldon and it was quite an honour because they are wonderful humans. We rely on funding and a lot of our funding comes from the public, so being chosen as a beneficiary is quite amazing. To donate 90% of the funds raised is a significant amount and we are grateful to them.”
