According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, a group of suspects, armed with knives, overpowered a security guard on site.
“The suspects restrained him using shoelaces before forcing entry into a container on site and stealing multiple stoves, extractor fans, kitchen appliances, and his cellphone before fleeing the scene,” he said.

A vehicle matching the description used in the robbery was then stopped on Malacca Road just six days after the robbery where one suspect, the driver, was detained.
“The driver led officers to an informal settlement in the Redcliffe area, where an additional three suspects linked to the robbery were identified and apprehended during the operation. Officers recovered six stoves, extractor fans and a bar fridge, linking the suspects to the robbery on Kikembe Drive,” he said.
Powell added that a fifth suspect was identified but managed to evade arrest prior to officers arriving at the location.
All recovered property and the suspects were handed over to Durban North SAPS.
