Armed men steal fruit, hijack vendors’ bakkie in Cornubia
The armed suspects also robbed the fruit vendor and his associates of their valuables in the hijacking.
A FRUIT vendor was hijacked and robbed of R7000 worth of fruit stock in a hijacking incident in Cornubia on Wednesday (June 24).
The incident occurred at about 12:45.
According to reports the vendor and his associates were selling fruit when they were approached by five armed suspects travelling in a blue Hyundai Accent.

“The suspects allegedly blocked the Isuzu bakkie before confronting the occupants at gunpoint. The victims were robbed of their cellphones and the vehicle before the suspects fled the scene. Fruit stock valued at approximately R7000 was also taken,” said Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram.
Despite a search of the nearby Blackburn area the stolen vehicle was not found.
“The vehicle had been seen travelling at high speed along a sugarcane road towards Charters Creek. The search yielded negative results,” he said.
Balram encouraged anyone with information on the incident to contact RUSA on 086 123 4333.

The stolen vehicle is a white Isuzu bakkie bearing registration BX 78 C ZN.
