Give back to cancer charity in a sweet way this Mandela Day

A café in Durban is looking for aspiring bakers under the age of 18 to make cupcakes for a cause this Mandela Day.

IF you’re looking for a sweet cause this Mandela Day, look no further than the Sunkist Lifesaving Club Café which is asking youngsters to bake for a difference.

The café is using Mandela Day to raise funds for Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company (NPC) and public benefit organisation (PBO), which brings hope and support to children with cancer and their families through cupcake fundraisers.

Through the NPC’s campaign Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, the lifesaving club café is looking for aspiring bakers under the age of 18.

On Saturday (July 18) bakers are encouraged to bake at least six cupcakes and bring them, along with the recipe, to Sunkist Lifesaving Club Café on Snell Parade, Durban, by 08:30.

After judging, the cupcakes will be sold at both Sunkist Lifesaving Club Café and Forest Café uMhlanga, with all proceeds going to Cupcakes of Hope, which supports children with cancer.

“The winning cupcake will be added to the menus at both café’s and named after its creator. The cafés will also make an additional donation to Cupcakes of Hope in the winner’s name,” the Sunkist Lifesaving Club said on their Facebook page.
