Truck driver killed in N2 crash near uMhlanga

It is believed the driver was ejected from the cab during the crash and became trapped beneath the vehicle.

A TRUCK driver died in a serious crash on the N2 (northbound) before the uMhlanga interchange on Friday afternoon (July 24).

In the crash the driver was ejected from the cab, confirmed KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Gareth Naidoo.

“When paramedics arrived on scene they found the truck jack-knifed, causing the container on its trailer to fall onto its side. It is believed the driver was ejected from the cab during the crash and became trapped beneath the vehicle.

“Members of the public managed to extricate the driver from beneath the truck before emergency services arrived. Despite the response of emergency personnel, the driver had sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased at the scene,” Naidoo said.

He added the exact circumstances leading up to the crash are unknown.
