Motorists warned of M4 temporary closure in uMdloti

The six-hour closure in uMdloti will allow construction teams to carry out work above the bridge as part of the upgrade two lanes.

A SECTION of the M4 in uMdloti will be closed to motorists today (October 13) until 15:00.

The road closure is the result of the ongoing construction at the site. KZN Department of Transport spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya said the temporary closure of the M27 from uMdloti over the M4 and past the N2 interchange is still being upgraded to a two by two lane each way.

“The closure today between 09:00 and 15:00 is temporary inconvenience but a permanent pleasure as upgrade will guarantee safety and ensure that a journey is enjoyable,” said Sibiya.

Part of the work being undertaken is the placing of big concrete beams.

“We want to ensure the safety of motorists, especially where there is work above the bridge,” said Sibiya.

He added, “We wish to apologise and inform motorists about these extensive upgrades on the existing infrastructure.

“We salute teams working in this stretch of road. It is a great collaboration involving SANRAL, the Department of Transport, eThekwini Municipality, and the developer.”
