A WHILE back I noticed that now and again one would see a dog running in a neighbourhood or, Heaven forbid, on a busy road or freeway.
Nowadays it seems to be that every time I go out I see a dog running in the road. I always try and stop and rescue the poor animal as many other people do as well. This is dangerous and extremely time-consuming.
Then the vets in the local area kindly take them in and hope that the owners come and collect them. Many times they don’t and they then have to send these poor, destitute animals to the SPCA. That could mean the end of their lives.
This is so sad and traumatic for the animal.
These animals are often not chipped or sterilised either. Now, what are these pet owners thinking? Why do they have pets they cannot take care of correctly and responsibly? All they need is love, respect, care and a safe garden.
The loyalty and unconditional love you will get back in return will far outweigh your effort. Please let us not be like many other places that just leave uncared-for animals running in the streets.
