Possible probe underway after Greenwood Park crash

A possible police investigation is underway after a driver was found with multiple stab wounds following a crash in Greenwood Park.

AN investigation is expected to be launched after a man was found dead with multiple stab wounds following a single-vehicle crash in Greenwood Park last night (Monday, August 17).

The incident happened at about 20:30 on Effingham Road, near Chris Hani Road. According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the company’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received reports of the crash and its Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team were dispatched to the scene.

“The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was found entrapped inside the vehicle and showed no signs of life,” said Powell.

Netcare911, Greenwood Park SAPS and the eThekwini Fire Department were called to the scene.

Powell said that while Netcare911 personnel were attending to the deceased, it was established that the man had sustained multiple stab wounds.

“The scene was secured and cordoned off while Greenwood Park SAPS began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Powell.

Greenwood Park SAPS did not comment at the time of publishing.
