Super Kings inflict first defeat on DSG

The Durban franchise have now one win and one loss to their name.

AN admirable all-round performance from the Joburg Super Kings saw them trump Durban’s Super Giants by 28 runs in their Betway SA20 clash at Kingsmead on Tuesday.

The men from the City of Gold batted steadily and picked up wickets in clusters to hand DSG their first loss of the campaign in their third game.

While the Joburg Super Kings didn’t record a single half century through their innings they had Lens du Plooy (38), Jonny Bairstow (26) and Donovan Ferreira (26).

Prenelan Subrayen, Chris Woakes, Naveen-ul-Haq and Keshav Maharaj all picked up two wickets apiece for the Super Giants.

Despite the falling of regular wickets the visiting side ended their innings on 169 for seven in their 20 overs.

While the DSG openers fell early, Quinton de Kock (55) and Heinrich Klaasen (29) were the only standouts for the home team.

The next highest score after Klaasen’s 29 was Brandon King on 17 as seven of DSG batsman fell with single digit scores.
