Editor's note
United we stand
THAT sport is a unifying factor in our country was obvious yet again during the soccer and rugby matches held in Soweto on Saturday. It was wonderful to see the happy faces of cheering fans, united in their teams' triumph.

If only life in our country could be managed like a sports match. When rules are broken, and it does not matter which position you play, or who you are the ref blows his whistle and the infringement is acknowledged.
The players and teams who play the hardest, wins, and the losing team congratulates them, and strive to improve their performance at the next match.
The players are individuals who need each other’s skills and expertise for their team to win.
Watching the people, dressed in green and yellow, with their painted faces and beautiful makarakas, reminded me of the good side of South Africa with its colourful, friendly and passionate people.
Sport surely reminds us that united we stand, divided we fall.
