I WOKE up this morning to news on Facebook that there was an advert placed on one of South Africa’s biggest classified online websites Gumtree, calling for a new President. When I searched for the advert it had obviously been taken down, but not before it made its way onto social media platforms.

What I saw from the Facebook post was:“Desperately in need of a functioning president. This one costs too much to maintain. Will take whatever we can get at the moment… just make an offer.”

The person who placed the advert even added: “Or to swop for smarter/cheaper model. No chancers – only barcode ID holders or TAX payers please ”, the advert went on to say.

What was even funnier was one of the comments that followed: “And not a single person worldwide put in a offer – I wonder why.”
