Municipality issues early warning for load reduction

ETHEKWINI Municipality has issued an electricity load reduction warning to all residents.

“We are in a load reduction early warning from 10am to 10pm today (Wednesday, 7 January). Please switch off all non-essential equipment.

“We appeal to all to participate in the demand response to avoid having to declare an emergency or invoke load shedding and/or load curtailment,” the municipality said in a statement released by the communication department. 

According to Eskom, two of its generators failed, which added to an already stressed system.
