Movers and shakers catch up on love
Three Durban North residents give us a sneak peek into their love lives.
WE all know it, its Valentine’s Day today and whether you like it or not, celebrate it or not, millions of people around the world recognise it as the international day of love. So in the spirit of Valentine’s Day we asked three Durban North movers and shakers, three questions about their love lifes.
Jessica O’Connor, plays for the SPAR KZN Raiders and is also part of the SPAR SA Women’s Indoor team that toured Canada and Germany recently. The Durban North resident played in the victorious team at the Four Nations tournament against Australia; Namibia and the USA in December. She was also part of the Raiders team that lifted the trophy in the IPT Indoor Tournament in November last year.
What nickname do you call your partner the most?
Porks, which is pretty ironic because he isn’t porky at all… more like the complete opposite.
What is your anniversary date?
Anniversaries aren’t too important to us, we would rather celebrate our time together randomly.
Where did you go on your first official date?
A gondola ride around the Durban canals, where he bought me my favourite sushi… I know, I know, back off girls!
KickstArt’s leading man, Lyle Buxton is having a quite start to the year in regards to performing, but he is hard at work teaching. The star has taken the big step of moving in with his better half, Jessie Riddin.
What nickname do you call your partner the most?
I usually call my partner “Babe”.
Where did you go on your first official date?
19 May 2013. But next year we’ll be getting married so we’ll have a new date to celebrate.

It was a movie date at Pavilion. Can’t remember which film.
Having recently opened up his craft distillery, Distillery 031, Durban North’s Durban Andrew Rall is settling into his stride as Durban’s first craft distiller. The passionate brewer hosts a monthly music session in amongst the stills, called Stills Sessions.

13 October.
