Give old magazines new life: Craft ideas your kids will love
If you have stacks and stacks of old magazines on hand, why not spend today with the kids and repurpose them with these amazing craft ideas?
If your home is anything like ours, you probably have a whole bunch of old magazines lying around various rooms. If you’re not keen on recycling them or haven’t had time to donate them to your child’s school, why not rally up the kids and spend today using old magazines to make reusable crafts?
Below are some creative ideas:
Make a bowl/vase
This is a very easy craft idea – all you need is a magazine and a glue gun. Tear out single pages and fold them into vertical strips. Start off by making a base, and then glue strips slightly above each other until the shape of a bowl forms.

Make beads
Cut smaller shapes out of a magazine (such as a triangle, circle or square), cover all the edges except one with a thin strip of glue, and then roll into little balls/tubes. It is a good idea to use a thin object, such as a pencil or toothpick, in the middle to get a uniform size/shape. You can then combine these into necklaces, decorations, etc.

Make a collage picture frame
This makes a lovely present for a friend or loved one, especially if you cut out words/pictures that hold a special meaning. You can also make a collage on any other object you can think of, the options are endless.

Make a woven magazine bag
This craft idea is our favourite – you can make your own personalised handbag, using only an old magazine, some clear packaging tape, velcro, and scissors.
