Johan Muller, the founder and chairman of the club, shared the club’s overarching aspirations. “For our senior club, our goal is to win the Senior Grand Challenge Competition with either our first team or U21 team. Meanwhile, our junior club aims to fill all junior teams from U6 to U13 and provide world-class coaching to every player in our system.”
The club will debut a senior first team and U21 team, competing in the prestigious Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge. This strategic move aligns with Muller’s vision of making the Warriors the top rugby club in South Africa.

“Having our first senior sides playing this year was a natural step towards that goal.” The competition kicks off on March 29, when the Warriors seniors take on the Union Knights Rugby Club in their opening match. The junior club will compete in the annual Junior Club League from June to September, with additional games organised throughout the year to maximise exposure and opportunities for young players.
Muller highlighted the importance of community in the club’s development. “When starting a big project like this, it is crucial to have the right people on your team. Our coaches are the best, and we pride ourselves on providing world-class coaching for every single player. Our coaching staff includes Deon Muller, who has been with us from the start, along with Delarey van Heerden, Wesley Myburgh, and Francois van Zyl. It’s truly a community-driven club, as many families from the area are involved from the beginning.”
He highlighted they were all very excited at the club and they were appreciative to the Golden Lions Rugby Union and especially Pieter Visser for guiding them through the process.
With the Warriors Rugby Club’s strong foundation and clear objectives, the club is poised to make a significant impact in the 2025 rugby season. “We are excited about the potential of our new teams and look forward to achieving great things together.”
