THE last Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over match was played on Saturday at Cecil Emmett Park.
Wicket Wasps won the toss and batted first against Dumbe. The Dumbe bowlers bowled well and restricted Wicket Wasps to 111 all out in the 21st over, the pick of the bowlers being Loubser Theron (4-0-13-3) and Leon Solms (4-0-18-3). The highest run scorers for Wicket Wasps were Triztian Nel (52) and Andrè Ellis (25).

Dumbe made hard work of chasing the target, losing wickets regularly, but a well controlled 39 not out from Leon Solms saw them home in the 19th over for the loss of 8 wickets. Juan Freyer also contributed with 21 runs. Best bowling for Wicket Wasps came from Shane Pennington (6-1-26-4) and PJ du Toit (3-0-17-2). Dumbe won the match by 2 wickets.
The final log standings for the Kingsmead Mynahs Trophy are as follows: 1st – Mr X, 2nd – Dumbe, 3rd – Wicket Wasps and Gladiators in 4th spot.

On Sunday the first Kennedy Cup 40 over match was played between Mr X and Gladiators at Cecil Emmett. Mr X won the toss and batted first and, after the allotted overs, scored an impressive 296/4. Miguel Machado was once again in the runs scoring a fine 110, Marco Vosloo also batted well and scored 70 runs. Best of the bowlers for Gladiators were Joshua Stoltenkamp (5-1-34-1) and Thulani Zondo (8-0-57-1).
Mr X’s Marco Vosloo takes a great catch, which was disallowed due to a bowling irregularity, leaving Spasihle from the Gladiators safe to face another over.
In batting, the Gladiators came up against economical bowling from Mr X and scored 120 all out in the 38th over with brothers, Brayn (39) and Andrew Vorster (16), top scoring. Best bowling figures for Mr X came from Gavin Bosman (6-1-8-3) and Miguel Machado (5-1-11-2). Mr X won by 186 runs.

The Kennedy cup continues on Sunday, with Wicket Wasps playing Gladiators at Cecil Emmett and Mr X travelling to Dumbe. Games start at 10:30am on Sunday. Braai facilities are available, so bring the family and enjoy a day next to the field.
