Reports of underground fire at Ingula pump station
Intitial reports say the fire is under control

Emergency workers are responding to reports of an underground fire at the Ingula pump station at Braamhoek. Intitial reports say the fire is under control. No reports of fatalities or injuries have been received. Workers are being evacuated from the massive underground complex.
Update:
It has been said that the fire started when wood in the vent shaft caught alight. Thick smoke hampered firefighters’ efforts to extinguish the flames. Ladysmith Fire Departnment has responded to the scene. Everybody has been evacuated from the tunnel and has been accounted for. The fire started while most workers were on lunch. The fire happened in the same tunnel as the tragic collapse last year that claimed the lives of six workers.
Update:
It has been said that there was no fire, but due to intense smoke, firefighters were called to the scene and workers were evacuated as a precaution for their safety. It has also been said that a minor fault with one of the machines in the tunnel caused the smoke. No injuries have been reported.
