Police arrest alleged syndicate members

The Newcastle Police Crime Intelligence Unit recently arrested four men between the ages of 30 and 45 believed to be part of a syndicate.
The modus operandi of the suspects was to follow someone who had withdrawn a large amount of money, to his vehicle.
Keeping an eye on the unsuspecting victim, one culprit would deflate one of the tyres on the vehicle once the person left to do shopping.
Police believed the front left tyre was usually deflated, as it would render the victim the most vulnerable.

It would compel the driver to walk around to the other side of the vehicle, granting the culprit ample opportunity to grab the money and flee.
To date, police confirmed more than R100 000 was stolen from community members at the hands of these suspects.
The four accused are expected to appear in court soon.
