
The Ezakheni Plaza officially opened its doors to the public on Friday. Officials, VIPs, Mayor Vincent Madlala and Deputy Mayor Sindi Mfusi, as well as the community of Ezakheni and other areas, were all there.
Despite the strong wind, adults and youngsters flocked to witness the historic opening of the first-ever shopping mall in Ezakheni. Music pounded out and everyone was in a festive mood.
Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality embarked on this project in partnership with the McCormick Property Group.
The mall will serve the community of Ezakheni and surrounding areas, boasting many different shops and businesses to provide the community with everything they could possibly need right on their doorstep. “I will find it easier to shop at the new mall, instead of going all the way into town,” said one excited Ezakheni resident. Many local businessmen are, however, worried about how the new shopping complex will impact on businesses in town, with many consumers not having to come into town to do their shopping anymore. Everyone will just have to wait and see…
