Five armed men attacked the home of a businessman on Ann Street on Friday morning, making off with jewellery and cosmetics.
Using the same modus operandi as in previous incidents where the homes of businessmen have been robbed, the men waited until only the domestic worker and gardener were on the property.
Captain Thulani Zwane, SAPS spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said that the gang had arrived at about 9am. The domestic worker was held at gunpoint and cupboards searched. A mattress was also overturned.
Meanwhile, it appears as if the gardener was able to alert the owner. Upon his arrival at the house he was threatened with an AK-47 by the men as they were scaling over his fence.
Witnesses said the men made off in a white VW Polo.
“No arrest has been made and we appeal to the public to please give us information about any suspicious-looking people or vehicles in their vicinity so that the police will check on them. Residents must make sure that they don’t open the gates and doors for any strangers,” Captain Zwane said.
They have been at least four similiar incidents reported in Dundee this year.
