A large amount of cash was stolen when armed men held a businessman at gunpoint early this morning. Police said at least two men arrived at the house, on Ann Street, at about 6am when the home owner was leaving to work. He was threatened with a firearm and money was demanded.
A ‘substantial amount’ of cash was taken. Witnesses said an attempt was to fire a shot but the gun apparently jammed.
The gunmen made off in the businessman’s bakkie which was later found abandoned on the Nquthu road.
Police are investigating.
