
A 20-year prison sentenced was handed down to man found guilty of house robbery and a host of other charges.
Zwe Zwliyhini Nkomo was arrested on March 24 this year. He was charged with two counts of house robbery and theft, one count for illegal possession of a firearm, one count of illegal possession of ammunition and one count for pointing of a firearm.
Estcourt detectives compiled their investigation and the matter was set for trial at the Estcourt Regional Court on September 19, 2013. The accused was found guilty on all charges and he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela has commended this conviction. “We want to congratulate the police members on a job well done and hope that this sentence will send a strong message to the community at large that those who do not respect the law; their days are numbered,” he commented.
